Will CBC Have The Stones To Demand Teneycke Apologize?

Not surprisingly, the CBC ombudsman has completely "exonerated" Frank Graves, if that's even the appropriate word. More like a slimy witchhunt, the ombudsman calls the Conservatives "paranoia tinged" and focuses on the cheesy call to arms from the party.

What is left out here, is that all this began with a blindside by Kory Teneycke on CBC, wherein Graves reputation was unfairly tarnished by a low brow partisan hack. What's worse, CBC actually pays this operative for his "analysis". Watching Teneycke attack Graves the way he did, is one of the most revolting episodes I've seen on the network. Given that the ombudsman has vindicated the nonsensical attacks, it is only fair that CBC employee Teneycke retract his defamation in a formal way. Why exactly should Frank Graves have to fight to regain his credibility, based on BASELESS accusations from a CBC employee, trying to score the cheapest of points? Why are taxpayers paying a rumored hefty sum to have a bottom of the barrel hack come on and try to ruin the reputation of their pollster, who is also on their payroll? Just WTF is going on here CBC?

Is there no consequence here, Teneycke just gets to do whatever he pleases, no matter how baseless or injurious? Has CBC issued an apology to Graves for Teneycke's conduct, or any impact on his business? Isn't it only fair that Teneycke be forced to respond to the ombudsman's conclusion, or does he just get to slither back in the corner until the next strike? Even better, is there an OUT clause in Kory's contract that speaks to on air conduct? Instead of bending over backwards to appease the rightwing, maybe it's time the CBC stood its ground and addressed an objective wrong in a forceful way. What Teneycke did to Graves was a disgrace, what's worse the SILENCE thereafter.

The conservative bias on CBC is getting absurd. Teneycke is a Harper staffer on air spewing Conservative Party talking points, being paid by the CBC! Where is the outrage at this blatant conservative bias! (Yes, really!)

Why is it okay for one employee to launch a unsubstantiated attack on another, without sanction?

Don't get too excited over the obvious. Getting someone from the "See-Bee-See" to rate thei organisation was like getting a mother to write up her own son's report card.

Regardless, I don't even give them 6 months, it's a matter of time before they shut it down.

You probably donated money. Baa, baa.

Should the ombudsman not be investigating Teneycke - his being there breaks the CBC's own employment standards.

Tof KW said...

Furthermore, if Teneycke's employment is perfectly A-OK with the CBC, should they not balance his bullshit with someone from the other side? Warren Kinsella should be hired just the same.

I think the NDP asked the ombudsman to look at Teneycke's hire.

Oxford County Liberals said...

That is correct; the NDP did file an official complaint. I believe everyone who has an interest in seeing Kory's partisan act removed is waiting on the ombudsman to report back.

They need to get rid of Solomon. He's way out of his league.

Don Newman wouldn't let Teneycke get away with that crap. Newman wouldn't let anyone from any of the parties away with nonsense.

Even Rosemary Barton (giggles and all) doesn't let them away with stuff. I think she was trained under Newman.

Susan Bonner was really good as well.

I think it was political that Solomon got the job. Hmmmm....worked for years with Carol McNeil who recently married one of the executives? I find it strange.

I like Ms Barton, giggles and all, and yes she does control the guests better than Evan. Answer to the second part is yes.

It was done in such drive-by, low road fashion, that I think Solomon was caught off guard, same with Graves.

True Steve, I'm not sure what any host would do, but I would have loved to seen the master (Don Newman) handle that situation.

It's one thing to not react immediately, but to just stay mum on such a BUSH LEAGUE attack is what bothers me. With this ombudmsan report, the CBC should issue some apology for little man's disgrace.

Teneycke was trained and worked with Giorno in the Harris government - speaks volumes

Teneycke also attacked Terry Mielewski (sp)a while back and Solomon again did nothing.

The Cons attack those they feel threatened by.

I remember the Milewski exchange, again not sure why he had to be subjected to a hack inquisition, just because his party was cast in a poor light. I guess Teneycke missed all those years when Milewski was hammering the Libs with facts and whatnot. He's a disaster, and surely somebody, somewhere in those halls recognizes the mistake.

Notice that two of the more frequent CPC voices on that show are Kory Teneycke and Ezra Levant? I know it has gotten bad when I and my wife find ourselves really wishing to hear what Tom Flanagan has to say instead because at least he comes off as more reasonable and connected to reality and good taste.

I don't really expect CBC to apologize even though they should IMHO, nor am I expecting them to do anything about Kory Teneycke's hire even though it clearly appears to violate CBC's hiring policy to have him as a regular member of that power panel (as opposed to being called in on a issue by issue basis which is governed differently). It is becoming increasingly clear that CBC is trying to placate their CPC masters (as in they control the supply of government funds currently, nothing more than that) because they fear even further cuts and interference if they do not when it comes to their political programming such as this show.

Who would ever have thought Tom Flanagan would start to sound like the voice of the reasoned intelligent and sane Conservative on the CBC politics show. That I find myself writing this is something I still can't believe even after doing so.

Kory Teneycke needs to be gone, pure and simple. That tendency of his to smear attack AND to filibuster the time in the segments he is in (which Solomon clearly can or will not stop, something else that really irks me, it is not the Kory Teneycke show after all) detracts and negates any useful information from being gathered from his segments. If I want to listen to someone rant and rave over everyone else, smear without basis and without reality based grounds to do so, I'd listen to Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh, I don't want that sort of idiocy in anything remotely claiming to be serious political journalism and punditry by a national broadcaster, public or private!

I knew that show was going to go downhill when Don Newman retired. This new crop of "journalists" like Even Solomon are too easily impressed by those in power. Newman was very astute, knew his facts and his history and wasn't afraid of anyone.

The only solution.
De fund the CBC!
Let them be left or right as they please, and save the taxpayers a wad of dough.

I am going to disagree here. I think Kory Teneycke should be on the CBC. The guy is so revolting and so closely aligned with Harper that the more he speaks the worse off Harper is. Pulling him off the CBC will only fill the CPC coffers with cash. Doug Finley is already working on the letter, celebrating the martyrdom of poor Kory.

Maybe it's time the Liberal Party got some spine, instead of caving like they do on everything, this time the Omnibus Bill.
As for Solomon he's a non-entity as a journalist.
Anything that came from Mike Harris is diseased, mental disorders from the lack of common sense reaction.

I have another proposal. Lets defund Anita. That way my taxes dont go to her roads, electricity, infrastructure and anything else that Im paying for.

This conbot logic is interesting when used in an abstract context.

Kory Teneycke being himself shouldn't come as a shock to anyone; clearly his role is to provide a Conservative voice and thus demonstrate how non-partisan the CBC really is. I don't know who provides the Liberal/NDP viewpoint (I don't watch the show), but I know that Frank Graves appears AS A POLLSTER, not as a regular pundit or commentator.

The CBC has to ensure that their pollsters are seen to be unbiased (they wouldn't get away with using Peter Donolo in that roll, would they?) since are are taxpayer-funded. CTV or any other private broadcaster can be as biased as they wish...if I don't like it, I just won't watch it. But the CBC doesn't have that option, sorry. They MUST be seen to be fair, and I think that's what this whole thing is really about.
