Did You Know?
I was thinking about Harper's tenious relationship with many of the Premiers, the lack of diplomatic flair. In Canada, one of the great exercises in federal-provincial relations are the First Minister Conferences. Did you know, that there are only four Prime Minister's that haven't held a FMC since they were first initiated in 1906? John Turner, who held office for 78 days, Kim Campbell, who held office for four months, Arthur Meighen in 1921 and our current Prime Minister. In fact, since 1950, this is the longest period that Canada has ever gone without a First Minister's Conference.

I made a comment to someone or other a couple of days ago that I thought Harper was in the process of turning himself into an incarnation of Arthur Meighen.
They had no idea who I was talking about.
Hopefully 22nd Century Canadians will have the same recall about our man :)
Persoanlly I'm pulling for 21st century Canadians to recall him.
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
Gee... I'm glad i'm not the only person thinking this and writing this about Harpo.
Is it really so much to ask for a little tact from our PM??? Harper is lowering the bar for leadership in the worst way, which is so sad. He's starting to make Joe Clark look like a good PM.
Joe had one First Minister's Conference, within 5 months of taking office.
Was I the first one to say this? Harper, the Arthur Meighen of the 21st century.
Then, Stephane Dion may as well emerge as the next (gasp) Mackenzie King.
By 2050, there will be biographies out in which Dion actually talks to Kyoto thinking that the dog is a reincarnation of his late father Leon!!!!
C'mon, give Harper a break. He's our big Kahuna, he's above the premiers. He's our leader and they are just subordinates in his mind and they are a nuisance.
Is there a school for statesmanship? He sure needs it.
So far he's snubbed Calvert, McGuinty, Williams and MacDonald - only 6 to go. Yup, he's united Canada alright - united them against each other.
First Minister's Conferences accomplish so much and are such wonderful things you would think Prime Ministers would hold them every week.... lol, lol....
"First Minister's Conferences accomplish so much and are such wonderful things you would think Prime Ministers would hold them every week.... lol, lol...."
Especially, when the nation is more united than ever, as Harper brags.
