Anticipation

I feel like a kid at Christmas. Only 7008 days left until the Conservatives set national targets for smog and ozone.

Haha,

You're a jackass, and as a conservative supporter, I can still appreciate it.

At the same time, no one has any purpose in making the government look so ridiculous by turning a relatively small number of years into a huge number of days. I'm pretty sure that's treason... somehow...

"relatively small number of years"

Olaf my friend, that would be true if I was a tortoise :)

Personally, I and my oxygen cart are looking forward to watching CPAC in 2050 when Ambrose and Clement are wheeled into Parliament to "be held accountable" for this debacle of a plan/approach/half-assed stall tactic.
Watched Don Newman's broadcast earlier today, and the squirming of Ambrose and Clement was sickening to behold. I'd just gotten over the actual press announcement, where Ambrose and Clement packed it in early because they ran out of coherent answers. I knew then what its fate would be.
Gawd, it's like watching an accident unfold in slo-mo.
(not so heavy) *sigh*

The Liberals spent over 6 billion dollars on five climate change programs, had no plan, and no accounting measures, and the end result?: Nothing accomplished. That's not me speaking--that was the environment commissioner in September, 2006. I don't think you should be picking on the Conservatives. Perhaps you should be asking questions of the former environment minister. Let me think: What was his name? Oh, yes, now I remember: Stephane Dion

The targets accepted by the Liberals could not be achieved. Be thankful that the Conservatives have something planned for the country that will realistically reduce emissions and pollution.

There is nothing! There is no plan! This is the point! And this is why Devon Rowcliffe has a cheery little counter on his blog counting down the rest of the 6000-odd days until emissions targets are set (not to mention the absurdity of framing of those reductions as 'intensity based'). Assuming the Conservatives get a majority in the next election, they're just as likely as the Liberals to do nothing for the entirety of their term.

If they get a minority again, they will very likely stall or mislead their way out of being seen as damaging the economy by handing the oil and gas industries a set of firm targets to reduce emissions. It's absurd to set targets for 45 years from now at well below the level of emission reductions we already agreed to fulfill within a decade (or so).

You're right, James. The Liberals failed to take action on climate change again and again and again. It's possible Dion could have done more had the government stood for a few months longer, but they had over a decade to stand up and be accountable for our Kyoto commitments. So it's time for the Conservatives to take the responsibility as our current government to pick up the goddamned slack and act like they deserve to be in office.
