On "Fair Examinations"

As the blowhard Baird accuses the Liberals and Gerard Kennedy of playing with the numbers, to produce a desired stimulus bias outcome, it is interesting to see a "fair examination" today that takes this debate beyond the partisan realm. To often- and the government relies HEAVILY on this dynamic- the truth gets lost in the point/counter-point world. Rarely, does the media bother to do any investigation, issues are lost in the noise, nobody notices. The Chronicle Herald actually did some independent homework, and low and behold, the Liberal argument finds firm support:
Nova Scotians in Conservative ridings should be feeling a little action in their economic plan by now, because an analysis of federal stimulus spending in the province shows blue ridings are awash in pork.

In fact, more money — $162 million — is being spent in those three Tory ridings than in Nova Scotia’s other eight ridings put together.

Obscene:
Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s riding of Central Nova is the big winner, with $87.7 million in stimulus money, 13 times as much as the $6.6 million being spent in Dartmouth, held by a Liberal. In fact, Mr. MacKay’s riding received more money than all five Liberal ridings in the province combined.

Kennedy doing good work:
The analysis by The Chronicle Herald supports the conclusions reached by a federal Liberal party report, which found that Conservative ridings across the country have been getting more federal economic stimulus funding than opposition-held ridings have.

Between the obnoxious government advertising and the massive PORK, this stimulus initiative has turned into a farce that borders on complete scandal.

Below, Conservative MP's meet to discuss stimulus spending expenditures:

It seems the more you Liberals try to make a big deal out of this the higher the Conservatives go in the polls.

Now how do you get the Herald's work printed in other newspapers? Notice that even when "reality" is hammered over the head, koolaid drinking citizens such as austin still can't hear/read/understands.

Okay, so austin doesn't mind his taxpayer dollars being thrown around.

I just read Buckdog's blog - photo of Keddy holding up a government cheque with the "CPC LOGO" on it.

Taxpayers are paying for this show and tell?

You guys must have memories like gold fish. At least the money being thrown around now is actually going to some communities instead of being passed to Liberal freinds in envelopes under the tables at some bar in Quebec.

That's right austin, when the going gets tough, shout "Adscam"!

Yes, the pius do have short memories eh? You're to thick to even notice. LOL.

Nothings getting tough for me, all I was saying is you are whipping a dead horse. Even Liberal Premiers do not agree with thier federal counterparts on this.

Wow, you told me.

Austin, I remember Brian Mulroney, the master of pork barrel government corruption and that was in the old days before the Bush League, when conservative learned to lose all their ethical inhibitions and now can't tell the truth about anything if their lives depended on it. What I find absurd in this is that the answer to who's getting the money should be a really simple list for journalists to compile.

And Austin, your guy has been around for over four years now and the majority of Canadians still can't stand him, don't trust him, and if we had true democracy in Canada he would finish last.

Hey Austin,

Ever heard of a dictionary? You have an incredibly poor grasp of English and spelling.

Did you get lessons from Dr Roy?

Austin is a prime example of a brain drained individual living in a Kool Aide state with no compassion for people but himself. Selfish to the core laying the blame on the other parties. Austin, Malroney exceped a lot of money and bribes in evelopes for his politics and his job and you know what? Giving all that money to Reform/Con riding's is exactly that. Bribes to get their votes. Buying you guys with our own tax dollars. Yours to I might add. Does that really make you happy because if it is, You are really in deep denial and a very sick person. If you can't see and understand that, you are really a blind fool and sicker then you think.

Really? Because last time I checked anytime Canadians are asked who make the best P.M. he finishes first, whenever they are asked who can do better with the economy he finishes first, and most importanly when they are asked who they will vote for he finishes first.

Steve V said...

And, last time I checked 98% of his most devoted followers are still ignorant.

If the Conservatives are really trying to buy votes as you all are saying but can never prove don't you think he would try to buy the votes that they don't already have? They would spend it in swing ridings. But like I said before this is all in your head just like Dalton said.

Steve V said...

Or maybe, the incumbents are trying to secure their own castle.

I assume you are not actually denying that most of the money is going to CPC ridings.

What is your explanation for the fact much of this stimulus money, which was intended to stimulate the economy, is going to ridings that do not need a stimulus, while ridings with higher unemployment get nothing.

Steve V said...

Gayle

No, no denying, just fluffing off, which is stunning coming from these white knights.

austin said...

First off Gayle, I think I was pretty clear saying I do not believe the money is mostly going to Conservative ridings the fact of the matter is there has been millions spent in Liberal ridings.
Secondly, I would like you to find me one riding with an high unemployment rate that got nothing.

Steve V said...

"I do not believe the money is mostly going to Conservative ridings the fact of the matter is there has been millions spent in Liberal ridings."

So, you don't do math then?

Please explain the findings of this story, and NO you don't get to just fluff it off because it makes you uncomfortable. Otherwise, please stop talking. I'm embarrassed for you.

Gayle said...

Austin - I believe one of the issues is that McKay's riding got so much money, while other ridings in the maritimes, where unemployment is higher, got nothing. Are you actually following this?

austin said...

I do not need to know math when it says "....$6.6 million being spent in Dartmouth, held by a Liberal.". No doubt it is much easier to get things approved when your MP is part of the government and even easier when they hold a cabinet post but millions upon millions have been spent in other ridings across this country.

Steve V said...

"I do not need to know math "

That is quite apparent. On a sidenote, do you actually think any of the snot you've expelled is at all compelling? If anything, it just reinforces the notion that Harper's base is stupid. Seriously.

austin said...

I would also like to point out that this Conservative government got us out of a recession quicker than any other government in the developed world with the possible exception of Australia

Steve V said...

I thought they weren't responsible for the recession?

Steve V said...

Oh, and you STILL haven't addressed the disparity in spending, you just keep ignoring it and changing the focus.

austin said...

"I thought they weren't responsible for the recession?"

Who said they were?

austin said...

I will address it when you prove it is acually happening. Comparing a cabinet ministers riding with a Liberal riding does not prove anything.

Steve V said...

No you won't.

Bye.

austin said...

Is there a reason why you keep deleting CanadianSense?

CanadianSense said...

Austin,

don't worry Steve V is really upset.

Free speech and dissenting comments are not tolerated.

"Free speech and dissenting comments are not tolerated."

No, dissenting comments are fine provided they are good arguments and have a point. Only blind, ignorant, Reformatory apologists with bedwetting fetishes are frowned upon.

Steve V said...

People are free to spew their nonsense, and I'm free to ignore it. I fail to see how letting nimrods invade my blog is a statement on free speech. You offer nothing, so I treat as such.

Besides CS, why would you want to bother? I assure you, I have ZERO interest in that morgue you call a blog.
