Taking Notes For The Book?

I'm not sure what's more disturbing and patently absurd, Cherry's suit or that the other guy actually leads a modern nation:

It's almost like they should switch suits... Harper is a wannabe. And a frightening extremist.

Oh no, Harper dogged by census protesters:

Who would have ever thought there could be such a thing as census protesters? Only the Harper government could create a war on information.

KW

Was thinking the same thing, only this government could bring the most mundane of issues to public debate.

So, is this Harper's new blue sweater moment?

Ya, all relaxed there - suit jacket, blue/white striped shirt.

They keep using hockey, hockey, hockey for charity stuff.

Seems to me there are other Canadians out there that are into other sports - football, basketball, etc.

I think Harper's hockey thing is a tactic he's using like Bush and his ranch.

I have no doubt that Harper is a fan of the game, but you'd be a fool to think he isn't using this to his advantage. And to be fair Chretien wrapped himself in the flag and used patriotism just the same. It's a shtick but it's damned effective.

My advice to Ignatieff is if you can't beat it, join it. And might I suggest ...curling :)

This makes me want to dislike hockey!

Canada is a country of 4 seasons - I thought Canadians had more going for them than to think only hockey.

Whatever happened to spring when a young man's fancy turns to........ - golf and fishing?

And, this thing about the Liberals did it too is w-a-y past its due date, please spare me that one.

Too bad Canadians have have some childish one-theme thingy.

Sandi, just making the point that regardless of this national patriotism act being a shallow and blatant political tactic ...it also works. Rather than complain, Ignatieff should use it just the same.

Also I'm an ex-PCer, not a Reformatory. You won't hear excuses best left to 5-year olds from me (ie - but Jamie did it first). I'd like to think any of my criticisms of the Liberals as being of the constructive variety. And regardless of any faults, they are still the better choice versus the populist ideologues that took over my old party.

Both Ignatieff and Stephane Dion played the game of hockey. Harper's claim to hockey fame is pretending to write a book about it. That so many Canadians fall for this man's sinister little masquerade is more than distressing.
