You have to give the Liberals points for creativity on this one. I can't remember another example of a catchy song, sanctioned by a political party, used in this way. It's a terrific idea, a modern approach to retail politics, cost effective and outside the box. What's not to like?:
It will be interesting to see if this idea resonates, how much free press it earns, buzz it creates, but this thrust clearly sends a message that the Liberals will use social media in ways we haven't seen prior. Good stuff.

Its cute, but with Tory support in Quebec already being way down in the low teens - its hard to see where you can take much more from them. There will always be at least about 15% in Quebec who are rightwingers who are nostalgic for Duplessis etc...The only Tory held seat in Quebec that the Liberals have any hope of winning is Pontiac. Maybe, something similar needs to created that attacks Gilles Duceppe since he's the one to beat in Quebec.
Count this as a trial balloon, into a region/group where we should do better. If it registers, even helps clear out the stupid lies from the other guys, count it as a success.
These days, small isn't necessarily small; even the CONs are relying a lot on non-buys with some of their negative ads. It's about impact and echo -- will this go viral?
From my mind, and a unilingual anglo, what i see and hear is extremely catchy. That song is very bouncy, the images simple but direct... carve it into 30 and 45 second sound bytes and run it when the writ is dropped. Maybe there's something planned for us anglos? Keep watching that channel, fans...
The point isn't bringing down the Conservative numbers, it's positioning yourself as the alternative to more Harper.
Just watched it. Thought it would appeal to the young potential voter. Read somewhere that that the rag, Sun, reported on it, but haven't seen it online yet.

Of course one of the things that Quebecers hate the most about Harper is his war-mongering in Afghanistan. I suppose the Liberals could try to protray themselves as an 'alternative" to harper - except that their Afghanistan is even more interventionist and belligerent than Harper's. Good luck selling that in Quebec.
Spoken by the partisan who's party talks about asymmetrical federalism and soft support for sovereignty-association (ADQ-style) within Quebec ...but doesn't dare breathe a word of this to English Canada. Typical NDP, promise the moon 'cause it's not like you'll ever be in power and have to deliver.
The NDP love to play the Afghanistan card, but the fact of the matter is, ZERO talk, NO media attention, NO sense of voter anger, just these polls that never translate. You guys stand all alone and yet your numbers never move? I'm not saying right or wrong, but Afghanistan won't even be on the election radar and it is clearly not a voter mover.

Given that every poll has the NDP ahead of the Liberals in francophone Quebec - maybe it has something to do with the NDP taking positions that are popular with Quebecers - like opposition to the Afghan war - while the Liberals are busy egging Harper on to send more troops.
Bahahahahaha!!

As I said, like supporting asymmetrical federalism in Quebec and the eventual sovereignty-association that will bring. I wish the NDP in Quebec would quote these policies to the rest of Canada ...especially out west. Please repeat them clearly and slowly, so that Westerners can linger on every word and subtle nuance.
Ans speaking of having different policies for different regions of the country, what exactly is the NDP's position on the Long Gun Registry again?
Canada already has "asymmetrical federalism". If you don't like it - you're about 100 years too late.
Interestingly, the ad also has the Quebec nationalists all in a tizzy. Joual is supposed to belong to them.

DL, the Quebec Pension Plan and control of immigration are one thing; but the Quebec NDP continually siding with the PĂ©quistes on ever power they want wrestled out from Ottawa is going too far. It was like this 20 years ago when I was living in Pincourt (there was still a provincial NDP party around) and Eugene Forsey Liberal's blog highlites the current scene (well he used to, he seems to be on sabbatical the past two months). There's a reason the NDP are popular among Francophones dans Quebec, you've been maneuvering to become separatist-light for over 20 years.
