Such Shit

Pardon the eloquence. You know, this Oda story is quickly moving from a question of her actions to an indictment of the PMO. Yesterday, I noticed Ambrose seemed to be "shielding" Oda from camera view, somewhat confirmed by the smirky wink given to colleagues. Today, we get this tweet from Bob Fife:
RobertFife

Public Works Min. Rona Ambrose is used to block camera shot of Bev Oda when PM on feet in House. #cdnpoli

For real, I mean that is actually what is going on here? This is the accountability government, and they actually sit around in the PMO coming up with designs to hide Bev Oda from the camera? Propaganda moves to outright manipulation, not only doesn't Oda defend herself, we have people physically trying to make sure CANADIANS get no view of her. Is hyperbole even possible in this instance?

I don't even care about what Oda did anymore, it's more alarming to watch how the government is trying to rewrite history and actually hide her. I want my country back, there is nothing more to say than this whole affair is SUCH SHIT! Gawd, I'm embarrassed to live here, embarrassed to follow politics in this country, what an asinine place Ottawa has become!!

Embrace it Steve! I reached that point last week. It's a bit of a stress relief to finally come to terms with the fact that nobody seems to give a shit... or at least they wouldn't if they actually knew what was going on.

Rosemary Barton said she was beside Ambrose with her chair pushed back...I looked and looked and behold, I saw her hair right behide Abrose's hair. while Baird was spouting out lies. She suddelnly was in sight when Harper was asked about the Royal Couple.

Yesterday, she was winking while the PM rose. I mean is anybody going to ask Ambrose or Harper, someone?? Where you trying to block ODA, why, and who told you to?

I've said it before & will say it again, the person who leads this government does not have the courage of his professed convictions. From his first acts to now, if he has a choice of honesty or an underhanded & sneaky way, he chooses to be shifty. What does anyone see in this sad little person?

Why are you reaching this conclusion about your country and its inhabitants only now (same question to Shiner)? Ever since Harper became PM, I have cherished my second passport which I am luckily legally entitled to and that nobody can take away, and I am getting closer and closer to wanting to return to where I immigrated from 45 years ago. I would like to rush to the airport right now and leave everything and everybody behind, and may do so soon... and then crap all over Canada and Canadians from outside the country! People who don't care or think about anything other than their houses and cars and how little tax they pay, who admire a so-called "strategic genius", no matter how pathetic and pathological his character is and who swallow attack ads hook, line and sinker deserve everything they get, and in spades!

the last 5 years of Chretiens rule i felt every time he spoke it was a kick in the gut.It felt like he was intentionally sticking it to westerners and laughing in my face when we complained. I am sorry you feel the same now ,it sucks. There are many raw wounds and I and I suppos 32-38% of like minded canadians remember that feeling. So though I am sorry and I will ask for Oda's resignation. I will not ,can not think of supporting the Liberals any time soon.

Did you feel that way when he was pouring billions in Alberta to help the tar sands? Or the money they put into Sask? Sorry, the facts don't support the "stick it" mentality, and I know from experience the Liberal rants are rarely supported by facts, its more fictional sport.

Steve, No it was when my uncles were losing their farms due to poor prices and not enough disaster assistance. when after a shooting death in montreal farm families had to pay the price of a gun registry.when after campaignig on getting rid of the gst "a lie" on being against free trade on national daycare etc... after talking about doing so much for the first nations that were our neighbors and then delivering 0.on gutting provincial transfers closing several of our local hospitals and schools. The Liberals were definitely not friends to rural saskathewan.people dont just forget that stuff. Some might be exagerated but thats how many of us felt. What money came to sask wasn't a fraction of what was needed and didnt come close to offsetting the cuts. Maybe they were just and needed but living here at the time it hurt and the Libs are the face i put on the alienation we felt. I am definitely not alone look at the results since then.being mad at me and my kind doesnt make it better. Just as my anger then did nothing to help. thanks for listening

Honest to goodness, you have a selective memory, because I remember people in the east whining about all the farm bailouts, almost yearly.

"embarrassed to follow politics in this country"

That about sums it up.

A "Westerner" a week ago told me that their family would never vote for the Liberals after the NEP.

I asked them what they would think if I told them I'd never trust a Russian because of Stalin?

The silence was deafening.

ij, I know a certain segment of the population, ably represented by bubba above, is terminally stupid, but I still held out hope that there was enough intelligence out there to recognize outright incompetence. It's become increasingly clear that the small swing vote that produces governments is just plain dumb.

I don't know how far a passport would get me. The States are lost. I'm in the UK now and it's little better, though the British love to claim they have a spirited public debate it's all for show. At least in Canada I can fall back on the provincial and local governments once Harper has killed the country.

Incidentally, that would be Harper's dream vision of Canada. A collection of sovereign states with a nominal central government, with that body taking care of the military ...and maybe attempts to present a unified foreign policy. But that's about it.

And if we're lucky we might still be able to field a unified 'Canada' hockey team.

In this light I actually consider Gilles Duceppe an infinitely more honest and honourable leader. Sure he's a separatist, but you know where he stands and he sticks to his convictions and principles. And frankly that makes Duceppe a more honest and trustworthy person.

@ Shiner: if you have a lovely red British passport, the rest of the EU is open to you, as it is to me, and there are still quite a few genuinely democratic and decent countries left. As far as local and provincial governments are involved? That would be Rob Ford and soon Tim Hudak - frying pan into fire.
@Tof KW: I agree about Duceppe and am secretly hoping Quebec manages to separate to save what democracy and sence of community it still has left internally, and also to put the cat among the pigeons nationally. My French would be good enough to move and spend my old age there, if ROC citizens with an allophone background were welcome... And I love Montreal where they don't think culture is a lefty pinko afflication to be mocked.

Right, though I have no interest in learning Norwegian and don't particularly like seafood or rye bread... looks like Bytown for me!

@Shiner: Totally understandable from a modern young Canadian's point of view (my children think the same, although they should know better) but there are a few of your fellow-citizens left who have actually experienced and/or visited dictatorships, and they would much rather live anywhere and eat anything for the sake of their peace of mind and the dignity of NOT knuckling under to a dictator. And we were getting there...
