Sad

Pretty hard to watch the normally vibrant Jack Layton at today's press conference. Having seen this look before, this appears an extremely serious and sad situation. Like everyone, I wish only the best for Mr. Layton and his family, he's a core warrior in our democratic dance, but beyond that a champion for many ideals we all respect. I'm impressed by his unyielding optimism today, which is probably the primary characteristic of the man. Let's hope the treatment goes well.

The NDP have put a "Get Well Soon" message page up.

Kind of alarming that he doesnt specify where and what kind of cancer he has now. He was up front about having prostate cancer before which has a reasonably good prognosis. Why not now?

I think you know the answer so I'll consider this rhetorical, and yes that has to mean it isn't good.

Though I do not share Mr Lawton's politics, I'm certain we would see eye to eye on many things if I had the proverbial beer with him somewhere.

Having a loudmouth, firebrand, reformatory populist as a PM, it may be best to have a loudmouth, populist, social democrat as leader of the opposition. We need Jack in the HofC, so I wish him nothing but a full and rapid recovery.

He looked very thin and frail. I hope Layton has a swift recovery.

Wow. I have been avoiding any and all politics until today. This is just too sad. I will say, however, that a close family member was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and was told there is no hope and is now in remission.

So there is hope.

Just wanted to come by and share my thoughts on this.
