Sure As Shit Not Paying For Ezra Levant

SunTV has every right to broadcast, I'm fine with the CRTC decision in the final analysis. The notion of a propaganda arm disguised as a news outlet is another matter, but in a free society people should always be able to make their own choices. Within that spirit, under no circumstances do I support my cable provider unilaterally FORCING me to support right wing television, through bundling or other tactics to include SunTV in a news package. If there is such a demand for right wing television, then the free market place will surely be kind, as people rush to include the station. Sink or swim, but leave me out of it.

There is a new initiative to write your cable provider, asking for the right to decide. My provider isn't on the list, so I have written my own letter, which states clearly I will IMMEDIATELT terminate my cable if they include the station in any package I otherwise subscribe to. I would encourage everyone who feels the same to do likewise, complacency is the enemy, money talks especially when it WALKS:

HERE IS THE LINK

Spread the word, if inclined.

Unfortunately, my cable provider, Novus, is not included. Also unfortunately, Rogers and Shaw are owned by right wingers. The petition will have to be huge to sway those monsters of the cable industry.

My provider isn't on the list either, so I sent a personal email. It will have to be big, no question, to have any influence. If it does get on, the next phase is to go after the advertisers of the station- I am quite confident companies will respond to the idea of supporting a political party. I also suspect part of the reason for the token non-Con is to blunt just this type of accusation. Advertisers want no part of political preference, it's sheer poison.

Okay then:

Under no circumstances do I support my government unilaterally FORCING me to support left wing state television through my taxes. If there is such a demand for left wing television, then the free market place will surely be kind, as tax payers rush to fund the station. Sink or swim, but leave me out of it.

Sound familiar. Goose/gander, that sort of thing.

Except asshat, it isn't left wing television. Here's a dash of reality for ya- what network gave Ezra Levant the MOST free coverage for his new book? The answer is instructive. Stay tuned in about an hour, watch who and what political persuasions are on CBC, and note if it is fair and balanced. Then stay tuned for the next show, wherein you can see the serial Obama bashing, right wing to a hilt business guy spar. Another hour, you'll get At Issue, with a diehard conservative. I mean, I want to believe ya Greg, really, really I do, but these pesky facts keep getting in the way of your bullshit perspective. Seriously, it's just an insult to my senses at this point. Get a clue, use your brain, don't ape the simplistic right wing jargon, look at the lineup.

Glenn,

WTF do you even mean?

Funny story, when one of the first things the SASK/REFORM party did was to pull the plug on SCN & the $hit hit the fan, & they backed off.

Steve V said...

I also love the way the left wing state television lets guests it pays for spout off about how it shouldnt exist in present form.

Instead, we are forced to endure a station which tries to recruit people to mock scientists, that's somehow comparable. The stupid burns so bad...

Glenn,

You realize you are asking for an answer? Think it through man.

Steve V said...

Just watching CBC panel of three, including John Ivison and Tom Flanagan arguing against global warming. Goddam left wing media I tell ya!!!

Unknown said...

So CBC has a few token righties and that is supposed to mean......what? SUN TV will have their share of lefty tokens as well.

See, the difference between the two is that if you don't like the fact that SUN TV is part of your cable package because you believe they are biased, you can opt out by going with another company. How do I opt out of a state run, tax funded news network that has problems even meeting FOI demands? Stop paying my taxes?

Well, it has been fun, Stan. Catch you on the down-low.

Steve V said...

Enjoy the delusion.

Gayle said...

It is the Glens of the world that are the reason SUN TV even exists. You start by convincing people of a crazy left wing conspiracy amongst the media, which the stoopids lap up, and then you use that false conspiracy to justify your right wing biased media.

I love the way no one here even attempted to answer Glenn's question (except to imply that the question itself was stupid). Here it is again, just in case any of you think you're smart enough to handle it without resorting to personal insults:

(note how he mentions a 'belief' of bias, not actual proof of it. What...his opinion isn't as valid as yours? Why not?..)

Equally funny: everyone either expressing or agreeing with the 'belief' that Sun TV will be "right wing biased media". Really? You've seen previews? Where can the rest of us access them?

Shiner said...

No. No it is not. Because bias can be measured objectively and regularly is in various studies. The easiest way is to measure the number of lies told. The CBC is not biased and the claim that it is by people who are told it is by neo-liberals have given it a complex which forces it to turn to every nut job in Canada to try to correct its non-existent bias. Also, Glenn's a moron.

Silly leftists, going on the stated purpose of the creators of the station, sufficiently backed-up by the BS published in the Sun chain.

Glenn and Fred ...please provide proof that the CBC is 'left-biased'. Otherwise, screw off. I'm tired of you tinfoil hat types and your socialist media conspiracies.

KW

The funniest part, Lead says no one answered his question, but when I provided a detailed rebuttal of actual tv scheduling, we get NOTHING back to rebut.

You people are so WEAK.

Unknown said...

.......but when I provided a detailed rebuttal of actual tv scheduling, we get NOTHING back to rebut.

Julie Van Dusen
David Suzuki
Bob McDonald
Rosemary Barton
Carol Off
Don Martin (when he was with the CBC)
Heather Mallick

Just for starters.

It isn't only about the TV aspect of their bias. It would also be easy to get started on CBC radio as well as their print stuff.

Now, you've mentioned a few tokens as if that is supposed to mitigate their bias. SUN TV already has Warren Kinsella for starters, and they haven't even gotten off the ground yet.

You see, again, the other difference is, if you don't like SUN TV's programming for what ever reason, bias or whatever, you can change cable companies. I don't even watch the CBC anymore because of their blatant bias and I still have to pay for it, because even though as sure as shit that Idon't want to be paying for David Suzuki, unlike you, I don't have a choice.

I think we're done here. You're starting to bore me.

Steve V said...

LOL.

Bob McDonald? Quirks are liberal I guess? Don Martin? Ha, ha, ha, ha. Rosemary Barton? Thanks, now I think you're even more of a clown, if that was even possible. LOL Glenn, just lying to yourself you tool...

Go away dude, your rock is lonely.

Science is liberal, intelligence is liberal, education is liberal, that's the jist from these simpletons. Sorry to be so harsh, but enlighten yourself, the ignorance is embarrassing, it really, really is. Sheer stupidity, sad.

Shiner said...

That is why studies have shown students become less right wing the longer they go to school. These guys are proof of the inverse relationship between intelligence and conservatism, obvious exceptions aside.

Gayle said...

"Just for starters."

I will make it easy for you.

These reporters are not biased. You are just so brainwashed that you see any criticism of the CPC as bias.

Grow up.

Gene Rayburn said...

hey Glenn,

Just fuck off until you start to learn not to be a moron. I just dont have humour for Turdcatchers like you.

Dont go looking for tips from Fred either. He's too busy looking for empties in the alley or drinking from a ladies shoe to worry about rationality or proof.

"PROOF is what people will base their decision on, and you simply have none."

Fred From BC

So Fred. Are you going to keep proving that quote correct so we can just call you Bollocks from BC?

Gene Rayburn said...

Now that I think of it Glenn, I dont like paying for Ron Mclean, Don Cherry, Rex Murphy, Steven and Chris, Being Erica, Kevin O'Sleazy... those fucking righties!!! My taxes!!!! Argh!!!!

Stephen Harper in a thong!!!! Arghhh!!!

OMG Im having a fricking Glenn!!!! My taxes!!! Who's going to pay for those while Im working so hard!!! Steven and Chris!!!!

Tomm said...

Steve,

Interesting post, at least it started that way.

If your loyal readers don't see the inherent bias in CBC, than there is really nothing anybody else can do.

The prosecution rests.

Steve V said...

Actually Tomm, the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence and the plantiff ordered to undertake psychological counseling. The judge also ordered the plantiff pay all costs to the defendant for "wasting the court's time".

Case closed.

Chew on this MAROONS:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/arts/television/john-doyle/don-cherry-its-loony-right-night-in-canada-brought-to-you-by-the-cbc/article1827207/

Tomm said...

Steve,

Please look on Doyle's material with new eyes.

John Doyle is a sports critic just like Cherry. If he is asking Cherry to go back to his knitting, why wouldn't Doyle apply the same advice to himself? Perhaps it is because he is intolerant of other people's views.

He is saying that some people should be censored. But only some people. The ones to be censored are apparently "the loony right". It is OK to make fun of the "loony right". Even if it is the Mayor of Toronto, or a former police chief.

Steve V said...

LOL Tomm, you just go right passed the point. Don Cherry spews right wing venom on the left leaning CBC!!!!! Once again, your stupid argument meets the facts and disappears. Seriously, open your goddam eyes and just stop talking.

Tomm said...

Steve,

You miss my point. With regards to the CBC, that ship has already sailed. They are monstrously anti-CPC government. Whether it is just a kneejerk reaction to all governments, I guess that is an option... but not one I buy. It appears to be ideaological.

If it wasn't ideaological, why are they leading newscasts with salacious Wikileaks gossip, and charges against Tom Flannagan? Given the thousands of news stories vying for air, why are those predominating?

If we are talking politics, why not the political explosions in Quebec or BC? or perhaps the newest national polling results? If we are talking economics, what about the Enbridge pipeline to Kitimat? Social news? What about the disfunctional communities built for aboriginal Canadian's? What about options for health care?

Even on the Air India "Action Plan" it wasn't to outline the "Plan" it was to report that the opposition was "slamming" it.

Have you even forgotton their accurate assessment of themselves by calling a news program "the fifth estate". It is a clear reference to the power of the news media. CBC knows they have power and knows they are selecting what to savage as they wield their particular club. I don't understand how you can even deny this?

Steve V said...

"If it wasn't ideaological, why are they leading newscasts with salacious Wikileaks gossip, and charges against Tom Flannagan?"

Umm, every newscast in the world is leading with wiki, and umm Flanagan said it on CBC!

What a waste of time you are Tomm, and I mean that with complete sincerity.... bye.

What "right wing venom" would that be? Don Cherry is a sports commentator, not a political one (and the CBC have him of 'time delay' in case they have to censor anything he says).

John Doyle, on the other hand, is a TV commentator who fancies himself a political columnist. He took it upon himself to get into a fight with Bill O'Reilly, and never ever misses an opportunity to insult Sarah Palin, George Bush or any other Republicans no matter how awkwardly he has to work it into his TV column. I don't understand why the G&M continues to allow this; it just looks childish and unprofessional...
