I'm back from Montreal. Just wanted to offer a quick heartfelt congratulations to the Liberal team. I was thoroughly impressed, and I know others were as well, at how seemless the proceedings. Given all that was going on, in the hall and online, the fact it went off without a hitch is a testament to the professionalism and talent working behind the scenes. Awesome job.

The recent Liberal policy conference revived the Liberal idea of imposing a new CARBON TAX on Canadians.
If an election were held today would you vote for the new Liberal carbon tax?
You're so silly sometimes.
You know, some people are so stupid. A guy gives a speech about his view on carbon tax and then the idiots come out saying it's a Liberal policy.
What don't they get about people speaking about their views, expertise and input?
....sometimes you wonder
It just proves it wasn't scripted. Yawn me a river. There's absolutely ZERO chance we introduce the carbon tax again(at least not anytime soon), but I found the support coming from the oil and gas exec pretty interesting.
I admit I clapped when it was mentioned ;)
I am not suggesting the Liberals support a carbon tax.
Rather - this is how a thoughtful, courageous, intellectual quest for a better future will be spun out there ....
and push-polling is a fundamental part of the manipulative communication regime that has sucked the semblance of democracy from our current society.
For a person that hates polls, I've never seen such fixation. Like, just how many times can you post the exact same comment?
I understand your general point, but they're here to stay and that's why they're important. Your media lens is guided by polls, as is policy and strategy, it's simply a reality you can't ignore. Anyways...
Northern PoV: The only people opposed to the carbon tax in the last election were the cons and the friends in the corporate media. 1450 of Canada's leading economists thought it was the best solution, the only economist who didn't was the one with the MA whop never had a job as an economist.
Ads for the conference: what a joy to hear intelligent people discussing worst case scenarios, best practices, and how we get there from here.
I loved it.
Well Jerry
while many (most?) rational economists favour pricing carbon and that a carbon tax is the most efficient way to achieve this ....
there were lots more factions against a carbon tax in the last election than you mention
why those stalwarts of the environment, the NDP, come to mind .... yet another group fallen prey to the fascination of thinking they will achieve power by making policy from polling data
I loved it too, such a refreshing departure.
Pov
Making the same point ten thousand times doesn't make it more effective, it makes it creepy.
