16 Minutes I'll Never Get Back

CBC has a story, reviewing an "embarrassing" episode in the Senate's Committee On National Security And Defence. Nice to see Conservatives act the same dreadful way in both Parliamentary bodies. Warning, over 16 minutes of time you'll want back afterwards:

One of the benefits of not having to answer to anyone I suppose.

Any one who has watched the Ethics Committee in action over the Mulroney and the In and Out issues will likely recall the constant interruptions and challenges of the rulings of the Chair rendered by the Cons MPs. At one stage, if I recall correctly, the objections of David Tilson to an opening statement from Schreiber was actually longer than the statement that Schreiber actually made after the Chair had to go to a vote of the Committee to allow Schreiber to make his statement. Seems to be the way the Cons Senators and MPs like to function. Then they yell tyranny of the majority and Harper claims that Parliament is dysfunctional.

Interesting that this come up "now" isn't it? Talk about an obvious set up.

And, it has nothing to do with being elected or appointed - look at some of the stuff in the US Senate (elected).

I did think it was hilarious when Pamela Wallin said they didn't vote when, as the chair pointed out, they actually did vote. Even more hilarious was that even though she thought they had not yet voted, she herself had actually voted. Maybe its just Harper pulling her strings and she really didn't vote. She's a perfect example of an appointed Senator who could never get elected.

Despicable but a stall tactic...nothing more...Reformatories are proving every day why they shouldn't govern and this is another example.
