"National Security" Me This

Andrew Coyne takes a break from playing serial contrarian, to pen an excellent piece on what's at stake over this Afghan detainee question. I'd like to highlight one portion, which shows a redacted passage, compared to full disclosure:
“We then photographed the individual prior to handing him over, to ensure that if the ANP did assault him, as has happened in the past, we would have a visual record of his condition.” (Emphasis added.) In the version released to the MPCC, the same document reads: “We then photographed the individual prior to handing him over [redacted].”

I would love for someone to explain how this editing took place, under the guise of "national security"? From about all I can discern, the only reason this portion was censored, it clearly shows a history of abuse, it's POLITICALLY damaging to the government. Somebody is trying to coverup past knowledge of abuse, there's no other plausible explanation. And, someone, somewhere, has documentation of what "happened in the past".

The smoking guns are piling up. The weasels have been reduced to a campaign that largely consists of repeatedly braying, "Nobody cares."

Well, we do care. We care when our so-called leaders lie repeatedly inside and outside of Parliament. Thanks to MacKay, Harper, O'Connor Day and the rest or 'em, Canajuns are hangin' our heads in shame.

If we don't care, then why have have we been fighting a war there for 8 years?

If we don't care, why are these clowns proroguing? And why are their apologists mentioning this issue as the primary reason to prorogue?

I agree, if it's just a question of torturing the Afghans, SADLY it doesn't get Canadians to riled. BUT, this issue is morphing into other questions, that have the capacity to do great harm.

All you have to do is look at how the government has reacted since the beginning to today. Clearly, they have calculated that issue can do harm, and every single one of their actions reinforces this mentality.

OMFG. Off Topic, but I just puked a little in my mouth. Robertson and Fife were on CTV all gushy and breathless about the PM's Christmas fireside chitchat. Fife mentions the piano gig at NAC, and then tells us how, as the crew began to tear down the interview set, Harper slipped away quietly to a corner to tickle the ivories all by his lonesome.

Do these two clowns have even a soupcon of self respect between them?!? Do they ever sit and watch the crap they put on the air?
