"What A Bunch Of Turds" Former Conservative Party National Director

The above reaction, from head office, after a Conservative candidate didn't want to participate in the "in and out" scam, because he had "some concerns". It really is a fascinating email exchange between the National Director and a regional organizer for the Oxford riding, courtesy of the Ottawa Citizen. This is how the Conservatives speak of their own, threatening and condescending, when they choose to follow the RULES:
"These idiots in Oxford have now told me they don't have room for the $10K," Mr. Bracken (Regional Organizer) wrote. "These people really take the cake."

Mr. Donison(National Director) wrote back: "What a bunch of turds - this is not going to cost them a cent nor give them a moment of cash flow problem and in fact will allow them $6,000 more in their reimbursement and they still try to wiggle out!"

In the emails, Mr. Donison advises Mr. Bracken to attempt to find another campaign to take on the $10,000 cost, but adds, "the fear of God needs to be put into these Oxford people and they need to be told that they may get billed for this and that it will (sic) their election expense under the Act."

Mr. Bracken writes back to say he's found a solution for "the Oxford betrayal" --- the campaign of Conservative Pat Davidson in the riding of Sarnia Lambton could absorb the $10,000 cost. But he asks Mr. Donison to "do me a favour Mike and have the heavies from Ottawa come down like a ton of brick on BRUCE RICHARDS."

Amazing to hear the intimidation, sounds more like the mafia than a political organization. What I find quite telling, the Conservatives only defence "we did nothing wrong, we thought we were following the rules. This email exchange highlights that HEAD OFFICE was well aware that these money transfers were causing "concern", people saw that it wasn't right, and some refused because it was obviously inappropriate. I wonder how many other campaigns were strong armed into accepting the cash?

UPDATE

Conservatives admit they were "national ads".

I hope this gets more play in the national press.

Hope some party can work to make that happen ; ).

Apparently Garth Turner's campaign turned them down as well. I'm guessing that didn't exactly endear him to the party brass.

The national press will not pick this story up. That I can guarantee.

Maybe if an "anonymous senior Liberal" released the emails, then it would get traction ;)

Well, it's the top story at NNW :)

If they don't pick it up ottlib, there is something seriously wrong.

As Steve says, it's at the top of NNW now.

Also, this business about demanding names and addresses in order to be able to hear the PM is being glossed over.

I say we all write the CBC site with links if it doesn't show up.

Sounds like a plan.

Sound like they also knew the local campaigns would try to "get $6000 more" from Elections Canada - clear admission that this was part of the scheme's raison d'etre.

Fraud.

Where are the Mounties?

I posted the link on the CBC's 'what do you want the second week of the campaign to deliver.' I said I wanted the CBC to deliver more of this story.
Call me out of the loop but what's NNW ?

At the moment Far and Wide is the first hit for "What a bunch of turds." when googled.

Here you go Jerry.

Thanks. You're so much nicer to me here than Christian Con is, I don't think he likes me.
"The national press will not pick this story up." Ottlib, being something of an outsider my whole life, and a former independent community newspaper editor, one thing has been clear to me for some time, and is perhaps best illustrated by the Iraq War, the war 'ended' when Iraqi TV was 'killed' on American TV: thus, when the Tories assassinated Dion's character the press acted like it was a reality TV show, which is to say they acted like it was entertainment rather than something insidious. About the only thing I have in common with Christian Con is that I too believe in resurrection stories. And I'll go on believing, whatever the press does or doesn't do. This one is not over. And won't be over even if Harper wins. He's not going to get a majority. Create a coalition, pass a law restoring the parliamentary custom of the GG passing the government on to someone else who has the confidence of parliament, and then defeat Harper on a confidence motion and dump his crime and lie ridden body politic into the Ottawa River.

It's already been buried by NNW, not a snif on CBC and or CTV. However, they have the plane malfunction and stories about those "insiders". You know the ones I'm talking about? Right? The insiders? Come on...

The MSM decided on day one, the Cons are on the cusp of a majority, that this election was about leadership (and Dion's perceived lack of it) and that the voters were too stupid to figure out the Green Plan. And they will not be distracted, not one bit! They spin every Lib story into a negative one. Name me one mistake Dion has made. Just one. It's shameful the way the MSM are covering this election.

I stand a little corrected as the CBC has the story in the Canada Votes section, but not in the main news section.

The Liberals did a press release, referencing the emails.
