The New Pierre?
Has Pierre Poilievre been replaced? Normally, the last Member Statement, just prior to the beginning of Question Period, Pierre would stand and offer an attack on Dion and the Liberals. This tactic has gone on for quite some time, Pierre the attack dog, trying to throw off the Liberals before their questions.
Today, no Pierre, instead Harper went literally to the backbench (he can touch the curtains) and brought out rookie MP Dean Del Mastro from Peterborough to do the requisite Liberal bash prior to QP. I must say, pretty effective too, Del Mastro read off his paper so intently, it looked like it hurt.
The bigger question, has Pierre been turfed as primary attack dog? I suppose, it could be something as understandable as still having the cone on his head from being neutered last week, but still....

Pierre is still answering on the In and Out.
Del Mastro has been used as an attack dog for some time now. (I'll leave it to you if he resembles as specific breed.)
He's as weird as Poilievre, but not as bright.
I suspect you're right though. Pierre will likely lay low this final week.
I've heard dalmations have a very low intelligence. Judging by how hard it was for him to read from typed script, that seems appropriate.
LOL.
Have you watched this guy on tv panels or in committee?
Very strange.
Oh Steve... Del Mastro is one hell of a piece of work... oh the stories I have about this man and his style from my days living in Peterborough. He's one of the major reasons I ran for the NDP's Federal Nomination in Peterborough last year. If the Conservatives are so "deep" in talent that they have to resort to him, then that just says so much by itself.
"Very strange."
Being "off" is in for this Con caucus. It was just funny, that the government was reduced to the back row to find their voice. If this doesn't work out, can they use a Page?
Cam
I was wondering you're impressions of the man.
Check the update in this post of mine last week. I tell one of my Del Mastro stories. Pierre and Dean have more in common than just being in the same caucus.

Don't make us work for it. :)
Thanks Steve...
what can I say??? I can't link things in comments... it's one of my short comings in life :)
Thanks for that Cam. That sure sounds like the Del Mastro I've watched. His farvourite target is Garth Turner.
Good grief, did he really say I like Aboriginal people?
Rumour is there will be a cabinet shuffle this week. Perhaps this is a sign that Pollievre is being moved out of his Parliamentary Secretary post.
knb... sadly, he did. it was quite the moment
"Rumour is there will be a cabinet shuffle this week."
If they're smart, they would give Ambrose another shot. Nobody could sell that crap, and Baird has proven it. Other than that, where do you go with this ordinary group?
Dean Del Mastro instead of Pierre?
I'll raise you two Karen Redman's and a Joe Volpe!
Tomm
p.s. I'm not diminishing the stupidity of Pierre, only pointing out the alternatives on the red side of the house.
tomm
I actually don't mind Redman. The difference, Volpe is buried on the Liberal side, while the Cons are forced to bring another b actor to the forefront. If Volpe was a Conservative he might be in line for foreign affairs ;)
Whooee! DelMastro was on Duffy last week. I don't email big duff@ctv.ca much on accounta the big snob never emails back. When Duff was supposedly moderating, DelMastro was the worst interrupter I've ever seen on MDL. I sent a message to Duff's famous Blackberry and urged him to moderate and told him that Del was his absolute worst guest ever.
He seems to be every bit as stoopid as Poilievre but much more rude.

Sign the email "senior Liberal" and I'm sure he'll get right back to you ;)
