Major Liberal Scandal

Jane Taber has uncovered a possible big Liberal scandal. Get this, there are two talented people, who have these jobs and, here's the controversial part, their getting PAID for it. The horror:
Gerard Kennedy and Martha Hall Findlay are receiving salaries from the Liberal Party to help prepare for the coming election, but how much they earn is being kept secret.

Since we are on the topic of jobs and salaries, maybe Jane Taber could do her's and actually report on something relevant. When will Jane Taber pierce the veil of secrecy and tell us how much she gets paid to ask bad questions on Question Period?

Honestly, I think she should work for ET.

She is a gossip columnist, full stop, period.

The problem is, the public reads her stuff as fact...meaning, "she's uncovered a scandal!".

It's disgusting what is passing for journalism these days, truly disgusting.

The real amazing part about that story is there are over 300 comments about it.

Yikes.

I can't understand how she ascended, to what is really a plum job.

I noticed that too, but couldn't bear to read them.

I fail to see where the big "scandle" is here. So they pay them - if the money is collected in legal way - no sponsership problems - the Liberals or anyone else can do with their money as they see fit. Politics is what they decide it is.

The New Brunswick Liberal Party also "tops up" the income of Shawn Graham the premier there too.

Steve:

I did not even bother looking at any of the commments because this is a non-story. I was just commenting on the number.

If past experience is any indication it is probably the same dozen people hurling invectives at each other.

Some people should really get a life.

Why did she write it you ask?

Who stands to gain?

Who is "whispering" to Taber?

Who was whispering a lot to Taber during the leadership campaign?

Who is made to look bad (Dion, Kennedy, Hall Findlay, Liberals) and who is made to look good in the article?

As they say at the National Equirer, enquiring minds want to know.

Well said Steve.

And they try to claim that there is a Liberal bias in the media.

Hi Ted:

Glad to see you back posting, your insights were missed :)

Steve,

Good post. Totally agree.

Liberals hire Liberals!!!

...So what?

Tabor hit her high point by asking Gwyn Morgan if he was a bigot. It's been all down hill from there.

I too join the chorus, How much is she getting paid?

It's not just Taber at the G&M. Other than a couple of columnists it's the whole damn paper. Day after day after day I marvel at the slant they've decided to play. From the headline writers to the copy editors the reporting of news has gone to the Conservatives. The editorial page is maintaining a modicum of objectivity so far but as soon as Gee climbs back on his horse that'll be gone too.

In much the same fashion as WaPo and NYT the major North American papers just keep moving to the right.

And the funny part, if you stroll over to the Blogging Tories, it's as though Frederick Engels is the editor of the G and M.

John Reynolds, former Cons. of harper's govt. said on Duffy's program today, that the Libs. can hire who ever they want. The cons hired Josee V. when she lost in 2005 in Que. and paid her to help in their Que. campaign and she got elected in 2006. Jane should get a life.

Jane takes a whole bunch of scraps, many of them fed her by ''secret sources'' and sees if anything sticks. There's no investigation involved, just prattling over the fence. Seems like no one wants to find out who funded Harpor's run for the Alliance leadership.
I do think editorially, CanWest is really stopped pretending to be Izzy's pride and joy. It's just interested in bottom line, which involves getting the Conseervatives in office so they'll deregulate even more. The Vancouver Sun's front page story, Tues I think, was a big artist puzzle tied into 'How Do You compare to a Gr. 5?' Two days later I discover that Global's newest dumb-down gameshow import from the US is a TV show, hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, asking innane questions for the chortling lump-ass class.
That's bottom feeding. No wonder no one down south has the stomach to impeach that lying sack of texas tumbleweeds...

Now we know why Taber was voted the "worst" political journalist in a poll.

Hey, Duffy isn't much better these days - wink, wink, nudge, nudge stuff.

Well, I suppose CTV has to keep a certain Conservative strategist happy as CTV is a client of his firm.
